Can I order a book cover design via Facebook or Twitter? No. The only way you can order a cover is by email, but for short questions about our service please feel free to contact us via Facebook or Twitter.
What is the turnaround time to receive my cover from the day that I contact you? You will get the first cover proposal 24-48h from when we receive your email, but please bear in mind that we are closed over the weekends, and that we are located in Europe (time zone: CET).
COVER DESIGN PACKAGES
What files are included in the eBook package? The eBook cover package includes an eBook cover, full resolution (JPEG, ready for Amazon), and one 3D book render, for a digital promotion.
What files are included in the eBook+ paperback package? The eBook+ paperback cover package includes an eBook cover, full resolution (JPEG, ready for Amazon), one 3D book render, for digital promotion, and one paperback softcover file. Please keep in mind that only one paperback softcover file is included in this package (created for one platform only, for example, KDP). In case you need adaptation to a different platform (Ingram Spark, Lulu, Barnes & Noble, etc.) additional charges apply.
What if I need some extra files, that are not part of your packages? In case you need adaptation from softcover paperback to hardcover paperback, or the creation of a dust jacket, feel free to contact us at any time. Also, if you are in need of any promotion files like social banners (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TiKTok), audio covers, or maybe some printed promo banners like roll-up banners, table banners, bookmarks, or postcards, just send us an email and we will provide the quote.
Are the source files (Adobe Photoshop PSD files) included in the package? No. PSD file are not part of our package, but can be purchased for additional cost. The price for one PSD file is $100, but please keep that art layers will be merged into 1 layer (so the art won't be editable), while text layers will be separated (and editable). This price includes 1 PSD file - eBook OR paperback, so in case you need both of these, the price would be 2x $100.
DESIGN PROCESS
Do you design custom covers? No, we don’t design custom covers, but we do offer customization of the existing cover . Please email us with details and we will give you the quote.
What if I like the cover art but I don’t like the font used? We can offer different font options, so you can choose the one that you like.
Can I ask for any revisions? Revisions related to the cover art itself are not possible, but you can ask for up to 5 revisions in relation to the text (colour, font, position). If more revisions are needed, additional costs may apply.
Can you reserve a cover for me? We can reserve a cover for you for up to 5 working days free of charge before payment is required. If the cover has not been purchased after 5 days, it will automatically be re-uploaded to the website and once again offered for general sale.
Will I see the cover I’ve chosen with my own title and author’s name before I make the payment? Of course. Payment is required (and the invoice is sent) only after you approve the cover as it appears featuring your own information. However, please bear in mind that the files we send to you initially are LOW resolution files which show our watermark. Only after the payment has been completed will we send to you the HANDOVER files, in full resolution and watermark free.
PAPERBACK DESIGN
I ordered an eBook cover some time ago, but now I want to upgrade it to paperback. Is that possible and what is the price? Yes. It’s called “paperback add-on” and the price is the difference between an eBook cover only and ebook+paperback cover design. You can order this at any time. The turnaround time is 3-7 working days.
What if I don’t have a final page count, but I still want to order a paperback cover design? If this is the case, we will prepare a digital paperback file for you, with an approximate page count. In this way, you will see the design, approve it, and be able to use the file as digital paperback for promotion. Once you have the final page count, just let us know and we will set up the spine size and provide a press paperback file, ready for printing. Please bear in mind that in this situation we would also have to charge you the normal price for a paperback cover (adaptation for press will be free of charge).
What if I decide to change back cover text/trim size/page count after I get the final paperback cover? In the event that you decide to change the back cover text, the first alteration is free, but if you want to change it again then additional costs will apply (starting from $15). In the event that page count/interior paper color changes, additional charges will apply, starting from $15. On the other hand, for trim size change, additional costs are starting from $20.
What size will my cover be in the end, and which format? We design premade eBook covers in a size of 6x9 inches (1800x2700 px) but the paperback cover depends on the trim size, paper type and page count that you choose for your book. EBook covers are delivered in high resolution JPEG format, and paperback covers in press-quality PDF format.
I have my own ISBN number/barcode, can you place it on the cover? Of course, not a problem.
Why is my printed copy of the book a little bit different in terms of colour and brightness compared to the way it looks on my screen? There will always be a difference between art seen on the screen and on paper (when it's printed) because ink can never reproduce screen colours 100%. Computer monitors and mobile screens give off a coloured light known as RGB, while in printed materials the colour model is known as CMYK (for coloured ink). You shouldn't expect to have a 100% colour match in print because the screen displays many more colours than are available in the press. Considering the fact that more than 90% of book sales are in the eBook format, we make sure that the cover looks best on screen.
PAYMENT AND COPYRIGHT
After I buy the cover, do I own all the rights to the art? Can I use it for anything I need? After payment has been made, the cover is yours to use under the Depositphotos Standard License terms of use. A Standard License will cover you for 500,000 eBooks and paperbacks, promo files and the creation of SWAG as giveaways (not for sale). If you want to create resale items (mugs, t-shirts etc), an Extended license must be purchased (by you) for each photo with a major role on the cover (approx. $89 per photo). We can provide photo IDs for all photographs used on the cover. If you exceed sales of 500,000 books, it becomes necessary for the author to purchase an Extended License for each photo filling a major role on the cover (approx. $89 per photo).
After I purchase a cover from you, is it still available for sale to somebody else? No. When you purchase a cover from us, it is removed from our website so that the same cover is NEVER sold twice.
Does hiring you count as purchasing goods or do I need to send you tax forms at the end of the year? You are buying a service, yes, but considering the fact that we are located in Europe (registered here and pay our taxes here) and have no connection whatsoever with US taxes, there is no need to send us papers of any kind.
Is it possible to get PSD (Photoshop) file of my cover? Yes, if you request a PSD file we will provide it, but please bear in mind that the art will be flattened (not changeable) and it will only be possible to edit text layers.
Can I pay by credit card or in any other way, instead of using PayPal? No. We only accept payments via PayPal.
How can I credit ProBook for the service? Crediting ProBook on your book copyright page is mandatory. Please include “Cover design by ProBook Premade Book Covers ”. In an eBook please link to our web site www.premade-bookcovers.com.
